Oh What A Lovely War

Performances – Wednesday 1st – Saturday 4th October 2014 at Lewes Town HallLewes Operatic Society marks the centenary of the outbreak of the First World War with a production of Joan Littlewood’s ground-breaking Theatre Workshop musical that marked a milestone in British theatre and itself celebrates its 50th anniversary of moving into London’s West End in 1964. Presented as an ‘end of the pier show’, it is a rollercoaster of comedy, pathos, satire and many familiar songs including Pack Up Your Troubles, Keep the Home Fires Burning, It’s A Long Way to Tipperary, I’ll Make A Man of You and a number of irreverent versions of popular songs sung by the soldiers in the trenches.

Please note that this production features flash lighting, loud sound effects and the use of moderately offensive language.
