The classic Stephen Sondheim musical, Follies, will be staged for the first time in Lewes. Set in 1971, New York, the production follows the reunion of a group of showgirls as they return to the theatre where they used to perform. The theatre is about to be demolished and thirty years after their final performance the Follies girls gather together one last time. As the evening unfolds they reminisce about the past, confront the present, have a few drinks, sing a few songs and lie about themselves!
Recently revived at The National Theatre in London, and including such classic songs as Broadway Baby, I’m Still Here and Losing My Mind, this legendary musical is rarely performed and is certainly one not to be missed.
